The IB Diploma Programme will

• encourage you to think independently and drive your own learning
• qualify and prepare you for colleges and universities in Norway and abroad. The IB diploma is equivalent to vitnemål from studiespesialisering in the Norwegian educational system.
• improve your language skills and make you become more culturally aware. The language of instruction, as well as most of your curriculum, is in English. All assignments and the final exams are also in English.

Hvis du svarer ja på minst et av disse spørsmålene, kan tospråklig undervisning i vg1 være noe for deg. Denne klassen følger de samme læreplanene som vanlig vg1 Studiespesialisering, men naturfag, samfunnskunnskap og geografi blir undervist på engelsk med norske lærebøker. Her kan du få testet hvordan du liker å ha undervisning på engelsk. I tillegg vil det bli mulighet til å besøke IB-klassene i løpet av året. For vg2 kan du velge mellom å søke IB videre eller søke vanlig Studiespesialisering. Det er også fullt mulig å søke IB vg2 hvis du ikke har gått i den tospråklige klassen. Krav for opptak til IB er vg1 studieforberedende program eller tilsvarende kompetanse.

Tilbudet er et eget alternativ når du søker på Vigo – Studiespesialisering – Studiespesialisering med forberedende International Baccalaureate.

Detailed information about courses and curriculum

You need to choose a total of six subjects at two different levels. Either three subjects at higher level (HL) and 3 subjects at standard level (SL), or four subjects at higher level and two subjects at standard level.

The IB Diploma Programme concludes with exams in all academic subjects studied in May of the second and final year of the program. The final grade is calculated from these exams and Internal assessment marked by the teacher. Students must also complete an Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge course requirement, and a CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) portfolio.

In addition, applicants must fill in an additional application form, see links below. A transcript of the applicant’s academic record must be enclosed. You also need a letter of recommendation from one of your teachers.

To apply to the IBDP, you must have completed the first year of a general studies programme (studieforberedende), the IB Middle Years Programme or middle school education at an equivalent level.

Applicants must be residents of Akershus county. Foreign applicants must hold a valid residence permit in Norway.
